WORLD TAI CHI AND QIGONG DAY 2019 CELEBRATION AT GOODALE PARK
The Last Saturday of April each year (10 am local time) in 100s of cities, spanning 80 nations, people come together, to breathe, move and nourish their inner vital energy together, sharing their healing arts techniques and providing a healing vision for our world.

World Tai Chi and Qigong (Chi Kung) Day 2019 is on Sat. Apr. 27, There will be a public event held near the gazebo (west of the pond) in Goodale Park. Starting at 10am, various forms and styles of Tai Chi and Qigong (Chi Kung) will be performed together and in groups and taught for free. You won’t need any experience to be able to participate and learn some simple healing movements. All Tai Chi and Qigong teachers, students, and practitioners; plus other healing artists and those that are interested, are invited and encouraged to participate. Additional information about Tai Chi, Qi (Chi) and Qigong (Chi Kung)
Qi (Chi) means breath, life force or vital energy. Qigong (Chi Kung) is the science, practice or cultivation of Qi which had it’s origins in China thousands of years ago. Qigong is currently studied and practiced all over the world and is rapidly gaining popularity and recognition as an important method of healing and preventive medicine. Qigong is a form of self-healing that includes posture, breathing, movement, self-massage and meditation. There are many different types of Qigong that vary in form and function. Qigong can be active/dynamic (using movement) or passive/tranquil (where the body is still) or have aspects of both. It can emphasize specific parts of the body, organ systems, acupuncture meridians and target specific conditions.
Tai Chi Chuan is an ancient Chinese Martial Art that features slow moving, relaxed flowing postures. It is sometimes called moving meditation, emphasizing breath, posture and meditation. It is different than other forms of Qigong in that all the movements have self-defense applications. Some forms of Tai Chi maybe more complex and take longer to learn.
Both Tai Chi and Qigong are easy to learn relaxation exercises that are important tools for self-healing. They can help to reduce stress, eliminate tension and allow the mind to be free of worry. They are of extreme value for attaining longevity, increasing physical, spiritual and mental well-being, health and coordination and for consciousness raising and treating specific problems.
Tai Chi and Qigong are powerful tools for self-improvement. They can be practiced by just about anyone regardless of their age or health. They are now being practiced in businesses to increase productivity and hospitals and schools as a potent therapy for many different conditions.
Many different forms of Tai Chi and Qigong are taught in Columbus by various teachers, many are very easy to learn. The WTCQD event at Goodale Park is a good opportunity to see various forms, and meet practitioners and others that are interested.
